Love Spoon Carvings
Love spoons were originally made by the groom for the bride. This is a collection I made for my wife and are displayed on a wall. Seven of the spoons are made from butternut and one of pine with just a coat of polyurethane applied. I like butternut because of the beauty of the grain. Most of the love spoons are carved from patterns found in the book Carving Spoons by Shirley Adler. The one from pine is from the Chip Chats wood carving magazine. For the painted one, I carved the bowl and my wife chip carved the handle.
